Therapeutic Recreation

This department provides the skills, motivation and encouragement our residents need to learn new and positive ways to use their leisure time constructively. The Therapeutic Recreation department strongly believes that recreation is more than a diversion – it is an opportunity to learn and grow.

Some of the programs we offer include camping, a creative arts program and volunteering in the community. Presently, our residents volunteer at the SPCA, Lothlorien Therapeutic Riding Center and at Autumn View Manor . We believe life long skills are developed through volunteer work.

Through foundation support, a challenge ropes course is under construction on campus. The first of three phases is complete and the second phase is underway. Benefits to residents from a challenge course include problem solving, developing teamwork skills and cooperation in a group setting. Through these continued developments, our expectations are high for success as we continue to rebuild young lives.
